Unprecedented Triumphs: Fallon Sherrock and Mikuru Suzuki Smash Barriers at World Darts Championship

Fallon Sherrock and Mikuru Suzuki have secured their spots in the 2023/24 World Darts Championship from the PDC Women’s Series, solidifying their dominance in the Women’s Series rankings.

In a historic moment for women’s darts, Fallon Sherrock became the first female player to hit a televised nine-darter. This achievement has brought significant attention to the sport and has helped raise its profile.

Heading into the final weekend of Women’s Series action, Mikuru Suzuki was in second place behind Beau Greaves. However, Sherrock’s impressive performance in Events 21 and 22 allowed her to leapfrog Suzuki in the race to qualify for the Grand Slam of Darts in November.

Sherrock’s back-to-back victories at the Robin Park Tennis Centre secured her qualification for the World Darts Championship. She defeated Vicky Pruim and Aoife McCormack in the respective finals, capping off a perfect day of darting.

With Women’s World Matchplay champion Beau Greaves already assured of her place in the Grand Slam of Darts, Sherrock has put herself in pole position to secure the second qualification spot. Suzuki came into the final weekend with a lead over Sherrock but now trails her by £1,500 following Sherrock’s impressive winning streak of 21 straight victories.

Suzuki previously competed at Alexandra Palace in the 2019/20 tournament, losing out in a close match to James Richardson. Sherrock, on the other hand, made history in the same event by defeating Ted Evetts and Mensur Suljovic.

Sherrock’s success extends beyond the Women’s Series, as she has also competed in the past two World Championships. She will make her return to Alexandra Palace in December, completing a memorable year that included hitting a nine-darter on the Challenge Tour and being awarded an MBE.

Overall, Sherrock and Suzuki’s qualification for the World Darts Championship highlights their dominance in the Women’s Series and their contributions to the sport. Their achievements serve as an inspiration for aspiring female darts players and continue to break barriers in the world of darts.
