Revolutionary 3D Imaging Breast Cancer Screening Tech Unveiled by RVH: A Game-Changer in Early Detection

The newly upgraded Breast Imaging department at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) is set to revolutionize breast cancer detection and patient comfort with the introduction of advanced 3D technology. This innovative technology allows radiologists to view the breast in ‘slices,’ improving the chances of detecting breast cancer and reducing the need for follow-up testing. Additionally, the new equipment offers higher quality images for increased cancer detection. One patient, Laura Gordon, who benefited from this technology, emphasizes the importance of advocating for oneself and utilizing new technology for breast cancer screening. The new machines also prioritize patient comfort with a curved compression surface that offers a more comfortable experience without compromising image quality or exam time. RVH’s purchase of this equipment was made possible by contributions from over 1,900 donors to the RVH Foundation.
