Businesses in Liskeard are celebrating the opening of the Workshed, a new workspace located on the site of the former Liskeard Cattle Market. The Workshed offers dedicated office, workshop, and co-working space, as well as lettable units, providing a versatile environment for businesses to thrive.

Darren Nock, from Replan Architectural Services, expressed his excitement about the new space, stating that he had “one of my best months since I started trading five years ago.” Cornwall Council estimates that the Workshed will support approximately 33 new jobs and contribute £1.2 million annually to the local economy.

With its inclusive and vibrant atmosphere, the Workshed has already garnered praise from Brandon Van Blerk, head of growth at training and development company Alchemist. He described the space as a “gem” and a “beautiful place to work,” highlighting the exceptional leadership of Dan, the manager, who creates an inviting environment where quality and exceptional service converge seamlessly.

The Workshed was primarily designed to cater to businesses in the growing creative and digital sectors, aligning with Cornwall Council’s vision for economic development in the area. The project received funding from the European Regional Development Fund, the Local Growth Fund, and Cornwall Council, totaling £5.2 million. This investment is part of a wider regeneration project aimed at transforming the center of Liskeard.

The official opening of the Workshed is scheduled to coincide with Liskeard’s Prime Stock Show, a major event in the local calendar. Jane Pascoe, Cornwall Councillor for Liskeard South and Dobwalls, expressed her enthusiasm for celebrating the new lease of life given to the old Liskeard Cattle Market site alongside this beloved community event.

Overall, the Workshed in Liskeard represents a significant step towards fostering economic growth and creating a vibrant and inclusive workspace for businesses in the area. With its modern facilities and supportive environment, the Workshed is poised to attract and nurture talent from the creative and digital sectors, contributing to the long-term prosperity of Liskeard.
