Upcoming Arts and Entertainment Events in the Area

The B Side Ballroom in Oneonta is hosting the Bartenders Ball and Costume Party on Saturday, October 28th. Bartenders Amy Burnsworth, Alysa Howe, Josh Rumenapp, and Scott Barton will showcase their skills in creating unique drinks. Attendees can also participate in a costume contest, with prizes awarded for the sexiest, scariest, most original, best in show, and best couple costumes. A cover charge of $10 will be collected at the door.

Several musical performances are scheduled for November at the B Side Ballroom. On Wednesday, November 8th, Those Darn Cats will play jazz and American standards. Unclaimed Freight, known for their Grateful Dead covers, will perform on Saturday, November 11th. Lanny Harrison’s exhibit, “Earth Altars & Dancing Deities,” will be available to see by appointment at the West Kortright Centre until November 3rd. The exhibit features collages made over the past five years using various materials such as calendars, scientific journals, wrapping paper, maps, and old design paper. Mixing these world images with cut-outs and painting allows for a freedom of expression both visually and poetically. To schedule an appointment, call 607-278-5454.

Magpie, consisting of Greg Artzner and Terry Leonino, will be performing at the Middleburgh Library on Sunday, October 29th at 4 p.m. Known for their traditional and vintage Americana sound, as well as their powerful harmonies and instrumental arrangements, Magpie has been captivating audiences since 1973.
