Actor Warwick Davis slams Disney Plus for ‘shameful’ series removal, sparking outrage and raising questions

Warwick Davis has expressed his disappointment with Disney Plus after his series Willow was removed from the platform, leaving fans unable to watch the show. This removal is part of a larger cost-cutting initiative by Disney CEO Bob Iger, which saw at least 40 titles taken down from the streaming site. Davis, who plays the lead role in Willow, took to Twitter to express his frustration, asking Disney what he should tell fans who are wondering why they can no longer watch the series. Despite the cancellation of the show, the second season has already been written, and there is hope that it will still be made. Other Disney Plus originals that were removed have found new homes on different digital platforms, such as the sci-fi blockbuster Crater. This removal of content coincided with Disney Plus losing four million subscribers in the first three months of 2023, continuing a decline for the platform. Disney CFO Christine McCarthy announced during an earnings call that the company would be “removing certain content from our streaming platforms.”
