Game-Changing Orlando Sports & Entertainment District Unveiled: A Game-Changer for the City’s Future

The selection of JMA Ventures and Machete Group to spearhead the sports and entertainment district in Orlando is an exciting development that is expected to energize downtown Orlando and bring stability to surrounding businesses.

In recent years, JMA Ventures and Machete Group have played crucial roles in the creation of mixed-use developments near NBA arenas in Sacramento, San Francisco, and Cincinnati. Their expertise and success in these projects make them the ideal choices to lead the development of the sports and entertainment district adjacent to Amway Center in Orlando.

The planned district will cover 8.43 acres at the corner of West Church Street and Hughey Avenue. It will include a range of amenities such as a 260-room full-service hotel, residential units, office and retail space, a live-event venue, an urban town square, and ample parking. These offerings will not only enhance the entertainment options in downtown Orlando but also contribute to the revitalization of the area.

The CEO of JMA Ventures, Todd Chapman, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating that central Florida is a fantastic market for this type of mixed-use development. He looks forward to working with the Orlando community to bring the sports and entertainment district to life.

Similarly, David Carlock, the founder and principal of Machete Group, expressed excitement about the opportunity to contribute to the dynamic growth of downtown Orlando. He thanked the DeVos family for the chance to work on this project together.

Local business owners are also optimistic about the impact of the sports and entertainment district. Casey Preston, the owner of The District Gastrobar along Church Street, believes that the increased foot and car traffic during event nights will bring stability to surrounding businesses. He hopes that the district will attract consistent traffic beyond just the soccer stadium and Amway Center, benefiting all the businesses in the area.

While a start date, construction timeline, and completion date have not yet been announced, the selection of JMA Ventures and Machete Group marks a significant step forward in the realization of the long-discussed plans for a sports and entertainment district in downtown Orlando. Once finalized, the project is expected to transform the area into a vibrant hub of activity and contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the city.
